Thursdays are Fridays, and Sundays are scary…

So today… Thursday, is really a Friday.  GLF is closed on Fridays, so Thursday is really our last day to prepare for Sunday.  This week has been particularly stressful due to the fact that our entire city is recouping from a storm that obliterated the power supply, and closed down EVERYTHING for a week.  So in the midst of insurance claims, hauling off trees, and plugging everything in my house and office back in… I, along with the rest of my colleagues, have to prepare for a Sunday service where people will be meeting for the first time in two weeks (three for the people that stayed home to prepare for the storm the Sunday before).  I personally put a lot of pressure on myself to make this week special, and while we will be doing a couple of things out of the ordinary, we are opening doors for a group of people to share “a common lifesource,” as Pastor Frank would put it.  So the fact that I’ll be up there by myself, leading with a piano, which I have done once (for a group of about 12 mind you), was scary at first.  But, as the week progressed, and after todays final push, that feeling has shifted.  After practicing for hours, I sat in the Gym-atori-ary (Gym, Auditorium, Sanctuary) and felt overcome by the peace we find in The One.  I though of all the reasons I should be terrified to lead from the piano this week, but Peace consumed it all.  It surpassed my understanding, which scripture tells us it will.  I’m excited about not only this week but the weeks to come.  As a city we saw the awe-striking power of The One.  As we will sing this week, “greater things have yet to come, and greater things are still to be done here.”
